Old Fashion Street Dance-Bridgeburg Style!
I have been honoured to participate for the past three years in local art within the Bridgeburg District. This year's event was just as exciting as year's past. While the event was scaled back in 2017 to meet the demand of budgets and assistance from volunteers, it did not put a damper on the evening's venue.
Sketching out a fairly large yellow brick road on the Friday evening before the event with my amazing co-artist friend Michelle was nothing but daring and fun, While we ran into a couple snags on the the eve of the event, the general consensus of the crowd dancing the night away was purely positive, rewarding and an accomplishment!

Life is too short to do anything that's not challenging!
The TestWanting to get a feel for the tempera paint we had in mind, a temporary logo was sketched onto the property of what would become the evening's central party hub.
A couple weeks went by after the test paint was applied and the logo held up better then expected. Almost too good! There was a little worry that the vision we were wanting to do would scar the pavement leaving a longer mark on the town road then what we expected. The decision? Carry on..... |
The Evening SketchOn Friday, September 22, 2017 I arrived with my artist colleague and partner in crime, Michelle. The sketch outlined with chalk (which a chalk drawing was the original intention) was created and our vision was coming to life.
With the light of day slowly diminishing, we packed it up for the night to finalize the next morning before guests arrived. |
Morning FinishArriving bright and early at the crack of dawn, the final design and rolling out blues, greens, reds ,custom colours mixed with a little dish soap were put to the street. As an added bonus, layers of assorted glitter were sprinkled onto the Yellow Brick Road and it's surrounding design.
