Ospreys of Niagara
In the heart of Niagara Falls, Ontario along the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), a large nest appears atop of a communication tower. With camera, tripod, binoculars and curiosity packed, a photo session of elegant birds occurred from over 200 feet away and 200 feet above.
After a closer glance at the photos and ruling out Bald or Golden Eagles, the Osprey's markings became very recognizable.

**APRIL 2017** THEY'RE BACK!
The Osprey once again for the third year in a row, returned to the tower only to see their nest was gone. But this didn't hold them back and after a couple short weeks, they rebuilt their home. Witnessing their determination everyday for the past 2 weeks came short when on April 18th between the hours of 5:30 pm to 7:00 am., their new nest was again destroyed and dismantled by human interference. On April 21 & 22nd, one of the Ospreys started rebuilding a new nest for the third time but is now faced with the challenge of wires strapped around the tower where they're nest has been for the past two years. |
**OCTOBER 2016-NEST REMOVED**
I learned that the nest that has been welcoming these beautiful creatures on the tower for the past two years has been removed. The Osprey''s returned to this nest again this past summer and after their recent flight, the nest was taken down. Do not understand why it would be taken down so if anyone can share an explanation, send me a note please!
